My first answer is to always get a second opinion and by another ophthalmologist (nothing lesser than). Secondly, see your normal doctor for an insulin test. If that doesn't get you the answers you are looking for, then see an endocrinologist. Floaters and squiggles can be anything from the natural vitreous gel upon the eye to something more serious as diabetes. When you go to your doctor, I'd make the first morning appointment available as you need to have fasted at least 8 hrs. for diabetes testing (nothing but plain water and few sips at that or you may flush levels down/out). I'd try not to empty all my bladder either, as the first morning urine can contain concentrated levels of 'this-n-that'. Also, no coffee as this affects the test (insulin levels). Simply, remember to fast or you'll have to come back or get inaccurate results. I know several people that started with floaters and squiggles and ignored them. Some, it was an warning to serious illness that they ignored; in others, it was nothing. Obviously you are rightly concerned, so go forth and get more tests! All the best & good luck! Prevention is best and trust YOUR instincts.
