Question: Question on contact lenses?

1) My left eye has -8.00 and my right -9.00 . But i can't find the particular color contact lens brand for -9.00 power, they have it till -8.00. What will be the consistences if i wear an -8.00 on -9.00 eye?

2) I also have -0.5 astigmatism, but toric contacts come from -0.75. What to do? to order them for -0.75 astigmatism of just add a little up to the myopia prescription?

I ask these questions as a second opinion, the first opinion is my doctor's.

The answers are:

1. Wearing a -8.00 contact where a -9.00 is called for will make that eye blurry in the distance. One eye clear and one eye blurry does not sound like a very comfortable situation to me and may very well lead to headaches.

2. To go toric or leave it as sphere and correct by going up some on your Rx is up to your doctor and may vary from doctor to doctor depending on their philosophy. I would say to go up a quarter on the sphere instead of overcorrecting on the astigmatism.
