Is it safe to wear a higher prescription contacts?!

Question: Is it safe to wear a higher prescription contacts?
I'm 3.75 and I don't have any more but my sister has 4.25. Is it safe to wear hers?

Do you both have the same brand, diameter and base curve? If so, the actual strength isn't that much higher; you might be able to get away with it temporarily until you can get more contacts. Some people think if you wear contacts/glasses that are too strong, it will make you more nearsighted but, I don't believe this. Anyway, you would only be doing it for a little while.

Now, you answer my question:

Why do people always wait until they are totally out of contacts before they get more?

Yeah, I suppose that happens sometimes. You might want to consider getting some glasses as back-up (even if you hate wearing glasses, you really need a pair for "emergency use") like if you got pink eye, scratched a cornea or some other reason you couldn't wear contacts for several days.
