Swimming with contacts?!

Question: Swimming with contacts?
I start swimming on the 31st, but I wear contacts. My mom says I should just take them out before swim practice, but then I won't be able to see anything. However, they are 2-week contacts so I can't just wear them in the water then throw them out, and I don't know if I can even safely wear them in the water. Would goggles protect them and keep them unharmed/in my eyes?
Any other advice/experiences?
Thanks. :)

Answers:

As long as the goggles don't let in water, you should be fine. I wear contacts and I just wear goggles when I swim. No water gets in mine so my contacts stay fine.

ive recently started wearing contacts when i go swimming in a pool or beach just cuz i cant see anything(especially at the beach without them) it just really cuts down on my independence at the beach to not wear them. but i am also visually impaired.
sometimes i go without contacts if my eyes are bothering me or hurting me. u should be ok to wear contacts just i dont think u should open your eyes underwater cuz u might lose your contacts or its probably not good for your eyes. goggles definetly help.

You should definitely wear goggles, both to keep your lenses clean and to keep them in your eyes, since they could wash out if you open your eyes in the water. Chlorine could also damage the lens material, not to mention the bacteria present in the pool - yuck!

Probably the best thing to do is get some regular swimming goggles and wear them over your contacts. Will keep pool water out. There are some extremely nasty eye infections and it seems that most of the people who get them were wearing contacts when swimming.

yes you will need to wear goggles

you cannot swim in a chlorinated pool with contacts in, nor should you swim in any water with contacts in

so.. wear goggles and you will be fine

Yes, defiantly get goggles. They might not stay in if you don't.
