Wrong prescription, right glasses... but they're already made?!

Question: Wrong prescription, right glasses... but they're already made?
I had my eye exam several weeks ago, then bought my prescription glasses and sunglasses at Costco eye centre and now have both pairs. I do notice, however, that my vision is not 20/20 and I am squinting to see objects in the distance.I am not sure how to go about correcting this error now that my glasses are already made and in my possession. Should I contact the optometrist or am I out of luck?

Thanks,

Chuck

It sounds like you got an eye test then had glasses made somewhere else and the glasses are wrong..

There are two ways this could happen:

1] The prescription is correct, but the glasses don't match the prescription.

2] The prescription was wrong and the glasses were made to match the wrong prescription, thus they are wrong too.

I would start by going back to the place where the glasses were purchased and have them see if the glasses actually match the prescription they were given. If they do, they are off the hook and you need to go back to whoever did the eyetest. If they don't, they should fix it.

There may be other ways things could get screwed up, but this should cover most of them.

Of course, all of them will say the mistake is somebody else's fault!
