Best treatment for my lazy eye?!

Question: Best treatment for my lazy eye?
I'm 17 years old and i have had prior lasik surgery when i was about 4 or so. It really hasn't been too much of a bother to me until i reached high school. I guess this is because the majority of people in high school try to find a way to look down on someone. I've made it through this far by ignoring them but i just can't take it anymore. I was fine with the guys making fun of me, but then girls started to not like me because of it. And it's saddening, because all of the other stuff like how you dress, talk, what music you like, or who you hang out with, that doesn't bother me, just when they bring that up. It makes me feel inadequate, like i'm hideous, & unbearable to even look at. Even though the people around me say it isn't that bad. I spend most everyday in the mirror pushing my eye over to imagine ya know. What if? And i just want to get it fixed so i don't have to deal with these problems anymore and i can enjoy the rest of high school and the rest of my life without facing these same consistent problems and questions...

So i was wondering if i can still have surgery, or if there's another type of therapy i can do on my own so i won't have to go through the humiliation of wearing a patch. Any help would be vastly appreciated. Thank you

I think you're a little confused.. (so are many others when it comes to this topic)...

It appears that you've got a TURNED eye... (which maybe lazy as a result of a turned eye).... but if you just have a lazy eye - (where the nerve has not developed to give you clear vision)... and no TURN, then no one would know that your eye is lazy, and they wouldn't tease you.

And you're also confused about LASIK surgery... it wasn't LASIK... it was something else... because when you're 4, your cornea is no way thick enough to have LASIK.

I think that you've got a turned eye = squint = strabismus. And when you were 4, you had ALLIGNMENT surgery to make them point straight. This gives the eye (nerve) the best chance to develop (and hopefully it has).

But as you get older, the eye may resume its turn once more....

If you want the eyes to be straight again, you will need another allignment surgery. It's commonly done.. but... the chance of success longterm is not that good... (it may become turned a few years after your surgery..)

People are very cruel and mean... and I'm sorry that you've been through so much... If you aren't able to have surgery (coz it's expensive)... I pray that you will find a group of caring and loving friends soon.

unfortunately lazy and weak eyes has not therapy
you should only use glasses , and do practices it can make it better after 6 months i have bad eyes too i use glasses and i do now it is much better!!!!
and there is surgery but cant do at home laser surgery is good

Lazy eye is best treated before age 8, usually by patching. At your age it would be best to consult an ophthalmologist to find out if anything can be done at this point. Possibly surgery on the eye muscles to try to align the eye better.

You can't get any type of lasik eye surgery till you are 21. I've done a tone of research on this since I wanted it and couldn't till now. Nice try.

maybe you should try massaging your eyes daily. My optometrist told me to use warm water soaked in a towel and massage it gently around your eyes. It works for me =] keeps my eye stronger.

It always amazes me when people do not have accurate information about their own condition. You need to have an eye exam and ask meaningful questions of your eye doctor about what is wrong with you and what can be done. You did not have LASIK at age 4. The thing that bothers you about your eye is not that it is lazy but that it turns. The links below are a good place to start in getting accurate information.

Are you meaning a squint or a lazy eye? A lazy eye is an eye just just doesnt work aswell, but it moves with the other so you wouldnt notice it.

If you have a squint then one of your eyes go in another direction. If it is then its best treated very young as your muscles in your eye havent developed fully. But i have known people to have surgey to shorted the muscle so you eye looks striaght and an older age. Talk to an opthalmologist to see if you would be suitable. Explain the bullying and hopefully they can help you.

Good luck!
