DETAILS ABOUT CONTACTS EYE TEST?!

Question: DETAILS ABOUT CONTACTS EYE TEST?
I'm getting contacts (13 years old) and I know that it usually takes about 1 hour or more to get your eye examined for contacts. What exactly goes during the test; why is it so long? Also, how long till' you get your trial pair of contacts to wear?? Right after the exam - or in a few days??
Anyone with contacts or knows about them, please answer!!

The answers to this depend on many things. The doctor does a more detailed corneal exam and then they have to train you how to take care of them properly and how to put them in and take them out. Depending on what is going on with your vision and your own prescription you may or may not get your trial lenses right away. It depends on what they doctor feels is the best lens for you. These are fantastic questions, and I bet that you would get even better answers than what I can come up with if you call your doctor's office and ask them the same things! I know that they would LOVE to hear from you!

I am an optician. O^O

The doctor has to spend some time getting the fit as well as teh perscription correct. contact lens perscriptions aren't quite teh same as glass perscriptions. They also put trial lenses into your eyes adn then look to see how they are fitting - bit like checking that shoes fit, do i need size bigger, will this rub when I'm running etc. Whether you will get trial lenses immediately depends on your perscription. If you are something common the optician will likely have them in stock. If its something unusual he/she may have to order them.

If they have trial lenss for you they will show you how to take them in/out , if not they may do this when the lenses come in. This varies between opticians.

Good luck with them. If you have problems taking them in/out to start off with there are loads of questions on answeres which will give you help. contacts are really good and just take some time to get the skills of taking in /out.
