How can a blind kid...?!

Question: How can a blind kid...?
My 11 year old brother recently went blind from an accident with fireworks a few weeks ago so he is still getting used to it but he is doing great. he is learning how to be independent, he's working with the division for the blind & visually impaired, he's even done some sports already(a little bit but were still working on that) there is a middle school award ceremony that happens every year in a few weeks from now. it is about academics, athletics, attitude, etc. He is receiving i think 2 or 3 awards. The ceremony is where the families get invited for a dinner(all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. The cafeteria is very big but it is still very crowded because there are about 80-90 students per grade.
The cafeteria gets a little rearranged for that night. He knows his way fairly well around the cafeteria but if its rearranged he will probably have trouble. The kids walk through the audience on their way to their seats and each of the clubs and teams get up and they talk about them(he is on a few teams and in a few clubs) and then each of the students get different kinds of awards. They have to walk up and shake two peoples hands and then go back to their seat.

Sorry if this was a little confusing, i kind of rambled this out but how can he know what he is doing, where to go, etc, etc.???

Consult an ophthalmologist. There are a lot of injuries that can be treated with good visual recovery. If you have already consulted one, then take a second opinion.

Ask someone to help him get onto the stage. He is a very smart and intelligent boy. This must be very hard for him to go through. You could also get him a walking stick. If this is permanent, you might want to consider getting a trained dog to help him around.

Wow you brother seems like a really smart kid! Try to sit near the front so he can go up and practice a couple times. or see if he can have an escort.

Well it seems they are all places he has been, my guess is pure memory, hope it helps.

Someone will have to walk him up on stage surely?
