You should rinse it with water followed by a quick rinse with your solution daily. You should also throw it away and replace it every 3 months (sooner if you develop any sort of eye infection.)

You don't really need to clean it much, usually just having the solution put in and dumped out daily is enough, you might want to rinse it out with some water if you see physical build up, but that shouldn't happen. You should be fine with regular use with the multi-purpose solution.

I have had contacts for quite a while.

just use water to rinse it and replace it when it gets like pink stuff on it. solutions always come with them so I would always have plenty to change if I needed to
