Sensitivity to sunlight after eye surgery?!

Question: Sensitivity to sunlight after eye surgery?
Asked this earlier but didn't get any replies, so trying again.

I had corrective eye surgery (PRK) about two years ago. Ever since then my eyes have been a lot more sensitive to sunlight. Basically if I'm outside without sunglasses and there's no cloud cover I have to either squint and shade my eyes or close them completely. Can't even look straight down with my eyes completely open. At my periodic eye exams after the surgery I mentioned it, but the doctor said that it would wear off within a few months. Here it is two years after the surgery and one year after my last required eye exam, and its just as bad as it was six months after the surgery.

Is this a common occurance? Any way to fix it? I don't know if its that my pupils aren't contracting all the way anymore or if the surgery just made me more sensitive or what.
It isn't exactly a disabling problem because good cloud cover or sunglasses are usually enough, but still I'd rather not have the issue at all.

Thanks for any advice or input.

i wouldnt call this "common", but it is a known & reported possible side effect of refractive surgery. if you're 2 yrs out from your procedure, there's not much anyone can do for you besides tell you to wear sunglasses

well let me think about this 1. just to get the facts straight:
you just had EYE surgery and ur EYES are sensitive to light
your eyes have not been "used" to light (kinda like getting out of bed and turning on the lights)
so yah. it is probably ok. if wearing sunglasses are ok with you and your doctor and they make your eyes feel better, then wear them!

yes, I knew someone who had this happen; sunglasses all the time in daylight after the surgery.

you've been one of the unlucky 1 in 20 who gets complications, I'm afraid. Go back to the eye doc as we know nothing.

Yu should really make a check up appointment. It could just be an effect or there could be a problem. My step dad is the same way but not quite as bad.
