How long does it take for a child's eye stye to go away?!

Question: How long does it take for a child's eye stye to go away?
My son's eye lid was red yesterday and I noticed a little bump. Then, today when he first woke up his whole eye was very swollen and the stye was more noticable. I've been holding a warm washcloth over it and I already see some improvment. Should I make a doctor appointment right away? Or first see if it'll just get better using a washcloth? How long do styes usually last? His 3rd birthday is in 6 days and I'm wondering if it will be gona by then.

Take him to the doctor where they would prescribe Erythromycin Ophthalmic Ointment. Place it inside of the eyelid at least 3 times a day. It is better to treat it now or it may become a problem were u have to remove by surgery. Do not pressure it . For now the warming method : rub/ swipe the eye lid outwards to the ear not the Conner of the eye .
