Its not definite. Most bad eyesight is down to teh shape of your eyeball and can develop as you are growing. Now the shape of your eyeball can be inherited so your mum and dad needing glasses may give you more risk, but it doesn't mean it has to happen. Also have your mum and dad just started needing glasses or did they wear them at school? That will make a difference. don't forget that if you do turn out to need glasses you have the option of contacts and possibly surgery when you are older.
If they had glasses early on, and didn't just get reading glasses as they got older, then there's a fairly high probability that you will need glasses.
However, this is not a certainty. My eyes are around -5.50, my wife's are around -7.00. Our daughter needed glasses, but our son does not. Now that he's reached 20, he may never need them, until presbyopia sets in.
it is very likely. bad eyesight does seem to run in the family. my whole family has bad eyesight and I had to start wearing them after high school. my eyes are not as bad as some of my family members though. I wear both glasses and contacts.
