There's no reason you cant, but they don't work very well. The solution isn't made to really do anything but sterilize the contacts, so when you put them in your eyes, the drops go away really fast. Actual eye drops affect (effect?) the nerves in different ways depending on the type/brand, which is why there are so many to choose from and they are so much more expensive. (fyi, i work as a biology lab assistant and i've made saline solution, its just salt and water that has been sterilized)

I use my contact solution as an eye drop all the time.
Most eye drops require removing the lenses, so I figure if it's safe for my contacts to soak in, it's safe for my eyes while I'm wearing lenses.
Honestly I find that contact solution works better for me then actual eye drops.

I do it, no problems for me, but only do it rarely. Saline solution would be best. Multi purpose no rub solution, probably not the greatest use as eye drops, but seems to be fine for occasional use

experiance

It depends what for. If it is just to keep moisture in your eyes it's probably ok.. if you need medication fdor your eyes the eye drops have medication in them whereas the contact solution doesnt so depends what u wanna use it for!
