Contact Lenses feel dry every once in a while - Specsavers?!

Question: Contact Lenses feel dry every once in a while - Specsavers?
Hi, I got Monthly lenses from Specsavers on Friday ( £10 a month plan, i believe they are proclear). The first 3 days they were fine but today I have felt my eyes a bit dry every now and then. I've to collect my 3 months worth sometime this week and I was wondering if I should mention that they feel dry every now and then? If so what would my options be for other lenses ( looking to keep it under £15 and would consider daily's ) and would they let me change the lenses even tho they ordered them in? I should also point out that I have used a eye drop and it did help so I gather its just I need slightly more oxygen or moisture lenses and I have worn lenses before but was a while ago.

Thanks for any help!

Proclear (or Vusion as you will have them packaged) are one of the better older generation 'Hydrogel' lenses as they are very high water content. This has some downsides though, being very high water content makes them extremely flimsy to handle and easy to break.
You should easily be able to get a lens that is less prone to drying by stepping up a lens range to the Specsavers Elite category. From my experience I would recommend you ask to try the Sauflon Clariti (Specsavers name = Lacrima) lens. This is made from a newer generation material called 'Silicone Hydrogel', which is much less prone to drying but also lets a lot more oxygen through. Alternatively you could try the Cibavision Air Optix lens (Specsavers name = Irisian) which is also a very good Silicone Hydrogel lens. Both of these lenses would be on a £13 a month plan.

From wearing contacts in the past. My first suggestion is that you should have only worn your contact lenses for a few hours. And then started wearing them longer. Now, secondly from instead of buying more lenses continue using eye drops a few times a day. Cause most likely your eyes are becoming dry. Hope this helps.

From my experience, I suggest you stop wearing contact lens altogether. I used to wear contact lens all the time. But now I can't. I wore them so often that now I have dry eye syndrome. The pain was unreal when it started. Their not sore now because I use gel and drops all the time and I probably always will for the rest of my life. If you really don't want to stop wearing contacts, make sure not to leave them in no more than 8 hours. Hope this helped :)

Hey, iv got those one from specsavers... iv just got my 3 months worth and mine keep going really dry and blurry- i'm going to mention it at my consultation at the end of feb. I think its just the lense because their so thin. Definatly go in because you dont want to waste your money on something thats going to irritate you (like i did Grrr! lol). Im going to get dailys next - much more simple :)

xx

I think you should mention it before you pay for the lenses. However as well as eye drops what are you doing when you are wearing lenses? If you wear them in front of computer screens for a long time then you may well get dry eyes. Computer screens dry the eyes anyway and this can be a problem for lenses. Make sure you are drinkign enough. Cold etc at this time of year also affects your eyes or if you are getting a cold. You notice this more with contacts. There should let you change them as disposable contacts come standard so they can always be sent back or used for someone else if you have a very unusual perscription. If they aren't helpful then go elsewhere for your lenses - its critical for lenses to have a helpful optiican and they aren't all the same.
