No, it's not a good idea.
You should try to play with your screen luminosity and/or wear glasses. Avoid sitting close to your screen. Take a few short breaks from your computer every now and then.
you shouldn't have to feel you need to do this. tell your manager or an authority figure because it is law for you to have regular breaks in between work to prevent problems such as this.
that wont work to "rest" your eyes.
