Does anyone have a pair of old or broken prescription safety glasses that I can !

Question: Does anyone have a pair of old or broken prescription safety glasses that I can take the plastic wings off?
I removed the plastic wings from my prescription safety glasses some time back as my job involved working from home and I only needed them for reading and computer work.
I am now unemployed and find work where I can through Agencies.
Some of the jobs I have taken require me to use my glasses but employers will not accept them as they do not have the wings attached.
I have been back to Specsavers and asked them to fit new wings, but they refused to replace the wings on Health and Safety issues and claim that I must purchase a new pair of safety glasses.
The cheapest they have are 79.00 pounds, and I cannot afford to pay this.
This is a ridiculous situation and could be simply resolved by them fitting new wings and issuing a new safety certificate, as the frame and lenses are already verified as prescription safety glasses and marked as such in their records.
Please don't suggest it is the "Employer's Responsibility" to provide safety equipment, as I do not have an employer and if I do get short time work, I am given "over glasses" which make me look like a frogman are are uncomfortable and impracticable to use.
Any help will be appreciated.

Those "wings" are called side shields.

Unfortunately, they aren't standard either. Every different safety frame model will have it's own model of side shields.

At my office, I have perhaps 30 different safety frame models, and every one of them use a different side shield. Not one of them is interchangeable.

So unless you get shields for the exact same model frame as what you have, they won't fit.

If you don't have proper safety glasses then your eyes aren't protected. How much worse would your employment problems be if you damaged your eyesight. I'd suggest putting up with " over glasses". know what you mean about using them as I've had them when working in a factory over my contacts, but whilst awful they aren't impossible.

ask a member of family and friends.they might help you.nobody will help you from online.cos we all are strangers.be practical.i am sorry for my comment.

do you have thrift shops, swap meets or a freecycle.org in your area?
