Try running a clean cloth under hot water for a few minutes, then place it over your eye putting light pressure where the stye is. The heat helps break up the stye.

Had a stye, that's what my eye doctor had me do.

Hi. I read the answer given by a nurse and she said its bad that the tear duct drains fluid away from the eye. I thought that was its only job. Isn't the tear gland above the eye also? (the part that produces tears.)

Maybe it would b better if u put the drops in the corner of ur eye

Let me tell you a little bit about the anatomy of the eye first, then I'll explain how to use the drops properly.

If you look at the corner of your eye, the one closest to your nose, you will notice a tiny dot. This dot is a little hole, the opening of a tear duct. This is where tears come out to lubricate the eye. Now, of course, if fluid can come out of that hole, it can also go back down. And that's the problem when people use eyedrops. The drops often go down into the tearduct and end up draining into the nose and throat.

What you need to do is pull your lower eyelid down a little, gently, so you can see the pink tissue underneath your eyeball. This is where you put the drop. Then you need to block the tearduct opening, by putting the tip of a finger on the skin underneath your eye, in that same corner close to your nose. The easiest way to do this is just to have your index finger resting along side your nose, with the tip resting on the skin just below the tearduct opening. Apply gentle pressure to block the hole.

When you have done this, blinking will help the drop spread around the eye and stop it from pooling in the bottom of the eye socket.

Make sure you wash your hands well before and after using your eyedrops.
