If you have astigmatism, it means that your cornea is steeper along one meridian than it is along another. Your prescription has one power for the steepest meridian and another for the flattest meridian. It also has an axis to tell you how this is all oriented. Astigmatism complicates fitting in contact lenses. One problem is that the lens has to turn the same way every time it is put on your eyes. Another is that there are three numbers that describe the power of your lens. People who are near sighted have only one number that describes the power of their lenses. This means that there have to be many more lenses to cover all the possibilities for astigmatism lenses. As a result of this, there is only one brand of disposable lenses for astigmatism that come in colors, FreshLook. It is not a very good lens design and comes in limited powers. You can't just fit yourself in contacts. You need to go back to your eye doctor to be fit.

Astigmatism means that the shape of your eye is different from the normal smoothly rounded shape. People with astigmatism are supposed to buy special contacts (or, if it's really severe, not wear contacts at all). My understanding is that it's much harder/more expensive to find color contacts for people with astigmatism than for people without. However, if your astigmatism is mild enough, you can get away with normal contacts (at a risk, of course; your doctor will never recommend this and there is a chance you'll ruin your eyes further). If you decide to do this, you'll be able to get colored contacts fairly easily; however, you probably shouldn't wear them for more than a few hours at a time, considering the risks.

Astigmatism is an asymmetry in the lens or eyeball that causes uneven focus over the visual field.
Some people with astigmatism can correct with contacts. If you can wear contacts, you can get colored contacts. You can get them anywhere contacts are sold.
