I'm not sure what state or even what country you are in, but in the US, you need to have 20/40 vision or better to drive. If you vision is worse than this, you just need to wear glasses or contacts, then you can drive. I am assuming your vision is correctable to 20/40 or better. They mark the restrictions part of your licence "corrective lenses" or something like that. It is not a big deal. They have this rule because they if people can't see very well, and are trying to drive, it will lead to even more chaos and accidents on our highways.

Even though you won't be driving for a while, you might want to get some glasses now, you would be able to see the board better in school.

The cut off point in most states and provinces is 20/40 before glasses or contacts must be worn.

It's just nice to know that people driving can see where they are going.

At 20/80 , you have to be at 20 feet to see the same detail as a normal eye can see at 80 feet....so no...20/80 isn't that good...you need glasses.

you will perhaps need
corrective eye wear
( glasses )
to improve your vision.
