How does an eye doctor check for double visions?!

Question: How does an eye doctor check for double visions?
Answers:

Diplopia (double vision) is a very subjective complaint.

There are some tests that can be run to look for the source of double vision, including an MRI and testing eye tracking (follow my finger).

These tests will look for some of the reasons why you might be seeing double, but there is no test to determine if you are actually seeing double other than asking you.

If you see double images, he probably isn't checking for it, as much as listening to your report of seeing double. There are some tests that will check your eye muscles that may cause you to see double if you have a weakness or deficiency (EOMs, near point convergence).

I don't know what a "Double Vision" is...
