Eyes irritated to yellow light?!

The eyes of my friend is irritated to yellow light, he cant stand looking at it. He becomes teary and his eyes turns to red. (Example, we are eating at a restaurant that has lights that are yellow, he told us that he can't stand looking at it. His eyes became a bit red and started to be teary.) So what is the cause of this? Is it an eye disorder?
