If you have an astigmatism correction (look for a number under "cyl") then maybe the glasses were made with the wrong axis.
And if these are new lenses, give it a few days.
It sounds like you have a lens that is correcting for an astigmatism. This is a condition that focuses horizontal at a different location than the vertical. Hence when you look through the lens it loooks elongated, either tall and skinny or short and wide, depending on the direction of the cylindrical lens. If the lenses are bothering you, it sounds as though you have the wrong prescription, although if you have lived for a while without the condition being corrected, it may just take a few days to get used to the new look. Good luck!
Your lenses might be correcting for astigmatism, as others have said. Every time my prescription strength increases, this happens to me too, at first. My doctor always says to wear the new glasses for a few hours at a time, gradually increasing the time every day, to avoid that dizzy/headachey feeling. It feels weird at first, like your vision is disorted but after you get used to it your eyes adjust and your vision is much clearer. I'm not saying this is definitley the case though - call your eye doctor just to be sure.
What kind of lenses are they?
Seem to me that the astigmatisms angle may be wrong. Try to go to your optometrist and compare the actual dioptry with that he prescribed.
