Sun on windshield making road signs dark and unreadable during sunny day?!

Question: Sun on windshield making road signs dark and unreadable during sunny day?
I've noticed in the morning, when the sun is at at a certain angle, it hits the windshield in such a way that it makes reading the road signs nearly impossible. now i want to make note here, the sun IS NOT ON MY FACE, so wearing sunglasses, or putting down the sun visor, doesn't make the road signs any more readable. Even when the windshield has been cleaned with no streaks insight, the sun is still able to do that.

It's not like I can't see other cars during that time, I can see them fine, it's just the signs, the speed limit signs, the road name signs, the highway signs are just so dark during that time of day. Any other time of day, I can read the signs just fine. The only solution I've ever found would be to open the window and look outside of the car, but no I would never do that while actually driving.

I asked my friend who was riding in the car with me if he could read the signs, and he said that he can read the letters just fine. And with the visor down, he can read them even better. This really baffled me. Well, he is farsighted, and I'm nearsighted with a prescription of -3D for both eyes.

Another interesting thing I noticed about my friend, is that in a dimly lit room, I can read stuff up close that he would need to turn on the lights to see.

Am I the only one who experiences this?

Answers:

When the sun is low, just after sunrise and just before sundown, it can make seeing road signs difficult. It isn't so much the sun on your windshield, it is the angle of the light and the shadows on the signs.

This is a common problem and there really is no solution. It will be a problem for just a few weeks of the year if you are driving at the same time of the day.

I'm an optometrist

People vary wildly in how sensitive they are to light. Also if you wear glasses driving you tend to be more sensitive to glare. You need to use sunglasses If you have perscription lenses then you can get perscription sunglasses but that is expensive and there are disadvantages. I have frames which have manufacturer designed clip ons. You have ot be careful with clip ons or they scratch the lenses. Speak to your optician about what opticians he/she would recommend,

I have trouble seeing out my windshield at that time of the day when the sun is glaring down at that one bad angle. Check out this invisible glass cleaning tool, maybe it can help you.

Hello

try polarised lenses that may help with the light esp from road surfaces
