specsavers keep emergency singles just in case something like that happens, if you don't have one near you ring some other opticians to see if they can help out - most will be able to help you out :)

I think your best bet is to try to get the contact lens. I suggest contacting your eye doctor to get a copy of your RX, then seeing if a place there has lenses in stock with your prescription. I know Walmart, Target, Sears, and Costco have lenses on hand and if your RX is common, then they hopefully they will have it.

My friend had this happen once and she went to a place that was nice and gave her a trial lens so they would not have to charge her for it. I suggest explaining the situation to whoever you contact and they may help you out.

Have someone overnight a contact or your glasses to you. A doctor won't give you either one without an exam, and I assume your own doctor is back home.

A very cheap pair might be available in the supermarkets. I know Asda sell them!!
