Actually that would be the uvea. It consists of the choroid in the back, the ciliary body toward the front and the iris in the most anterior part of the eye.. It is the layer that nourishes the retina and secretes fluid to nourish the interior of the eye.
The sclera stops at the cornea so it does not fit your description of only having an opening called the pupil.

The Sclera...

OOOPS , ignoramus is right.

It's a trick question if read too fast..." except " the pupil fooled me.

The sclera ALMOST surrounds the whole eye, except for the iris and pupil...so it doesn't count.

The Sclera is the white part, the Iris is the colored part and the pupil is the black spot in the middle. The transparent part over the Iris and Pupil is the cornea.
