Can I wear only 1 contact lense at a time?!

Question: Can I wear only 1 contact lense at a time?
is it safe, is it ok? i'm a bit worried because the past few weeks, i wore them for 9 hours, 6 days a week, not giving it 2 days of full air like my doctor said, so i want to alternate the use of only 1 contact in an eye a day, so if i wear them for 6 days, it will only be like wearing them for 3 days. is this ok or will something happen to my other eye?

Answers:

The idea of having contacts is to see well....having only one lens in at a time defeats the whole purpose, as well as always being unbalanced , you will never be seeing as well as you should be.

I understand what you are thinking, but it really doesn't make much sense.

If you are only wearing them 9 hours a day , 6 days a week , you won't have any problems anyway.

Your Dr. just wanted to make sure you don't start wearing them 16 hours a day , 7 days a week.

Continue like you are doing, you will be fine.

9 hours 6 days a week isn't really overwearing. Most opticians will say you can wear 12 to 14 hours every day. Provided your eyes aren't really red when your lenses come out, or they aren't dry you're unlikely to have a problem unless you have some type of unusual condition with your eyes.

Sounds like your doctor is very conservative to me, I'd carry on wearing for 6 days and possibly get a second opinion from someone else.

I would not alternate eyes unless that is what is prescribed by your optometrist. You would possibly get eye strain, headaches, etc doing that.

Do as prescribed or end up as a cyclopes with history.

do what your doctor says. If you only wear one that eye will get better and the other won't.
