How bad is eye strain?!

Question: How bad is eye strain?
I usually spend around 3 hours a day on a computer, and lately I've been reading about eye strain, and what I want to know is:

1) Is it something that'll go away after a few hours of sleep, or does it take longer to go away?
2) Does it become more frequent over time?
3) Does watching TV cause as many eye strain as a computer?

With eye strain it depends how badly you've strained your eyes and how frequently. 3 hours a day isn't all that much on a computer . As a computer professional I spend a minimum of 8 and often 24 to 72 hours solid with only couple of hours breaks. That sort of eye strain can take a good 48 hours to get over. Sleeping overnight will get rid of minor eye strain but using your distance vision and not reading etc for a while I find is needed if I've really overdone it.

Once you get eye strain if you don't take a real break and get over it properly it tends to get worse. The headaches can become virtually constant.

TV doesn't cause anywhere near the eye strain that a computer screen does.

Keeping your eyes fixed at the computer for many hours will indeed cause strain. But I personally think it will take much longer then 3 hours or it to occur, and you're eyes and head will feel pretty bad.

If you are only on the computer at random times, you're probably ok. Eye strain is more of a problem for people who work for many hours without taking breaks.

And you can strain your eyes looking at anything, even the TV.

How long is a string? Many people use computers or watch TV more hours per day than you do. See an optometrist to find out if you need glasses or contacts, and look away from the screen every few minutes.
