Questions about contact lenses?!

Question: Questions about contact lenses?
I broke my eyeglasses (again) and my mom and I are thinking about getting me contacts. But I'm kinda afraid to get them. Like I want them but I'm like afraid about some things like the process of getting them like, measuring your eye or cornea or something. (I'm nearsighted by the way). And I'm afraid of putting the contact lenses on.

So anyways, here are my questions:
- (If they do) How do optometrists measure your eye?
- If they do measure your eye, does it hurt?
- How long do regular ( as in no color ) contact lenses last? (If your nearsighted and you wear them from 12 hours to 16 hours a day from 5-7 days a week)
- How much do they cost? (On average or for you)
- Do you have to be a certain age to have contact lenses?
- How do you prevent contact lenses from folding in half while you wear them? My sister's friend wears contact lenses and when she was playing Guitar Hero, her contact lens folded in half.
- How do you prevent getting germs in your eyes? My Mom says that you can get eye diseases or something from wearing contacts? Something like that...

Please answer my questions, thanks(:
Have a happy Valentines Day!

1 Optometrist measure your eye like if youre getting glasses.
2 no, it does not hurt at all!.

5 no, any age will do.
6 make sure the contact lenses is not flipped upside down

Hi there,

Not sure if I can answer all of your questions, but I can try...

Don't be scared of the eye doctor, all you do is look at a spot on the wall while they shine a small flashlight type light at your eye... It is easy and painless.

They will also do an eye chart test and some other painless tests, believe me... Not bad at all!

I think that the videos on this page might help you with your wear and care questions: http://bit.ly/Contacts101

I hope this helps!
