Flashing lights in right eye.?!

Question: Flashing lights in right eye.?
In the last month I've had two episodes of this, and don't know what to make of it.

It went after a day or so the first time, but now it's here again and getting worse. The flashing is in my peripheral vision, but doesn't seem to be associated to a migraine headache, and is worse when I bend down.
The other thing that concerns me is, whilst I understand about a tear in the retina, or even a detachment, I have a funny feeling it could be something else. Can't get an appointment with my doctor or optician until midweek, should I be going to hospital with this? It really is quite bad.

Answers:

Is it daytime there? walk in to a high-street optician and ask for an eye test, say you have this problem and they will look in to your eye to check if they see a detachment or anything sinister.

Failing that I would go to the ER if it's not just an annoyance but a proper problem. I'd ask them to check it, it won't take a minute to check for a detached retina, that's fixable and worth finding out about sooner than later.

It really sounds bad. Maybe you could call a help center and ask a nurse or something whether you should go in?
