What is wrong with me?!

Question: What is wrong with me?
I am 20 years old. I recently had an eye exam/evaluation (around late August 2010, it's now February 12th) and needed new prescriptions. I've always had extremely high myopia (my previous glasses were around -11 and -12). I picked up my new glasses just yesterday and for a while, my vision was clearer than before. However, just today I started experiencing lack in visual acuity again, as if I had not changed prescriptions at all. What is WRONG with me? Also, I am a glaucoma suspect. Upon my last visit, the optometrist said I had retinal thinning and peri-papillary atrophy, in addition to the following findings:

1.
IOPs (NCT) @ 10:31am OD = 17mmHg OS = 18mmHg
2.
Cup to Disc Ratio of the Optic Nerves
* OD = 0.3/0.3
* OS = 0.8/0.8
3. Optic Nerve Disc Margins = Peripapillary Atrophy Alpha and Beta Zones OD, OS
4. Dilation was performed at 10:32am with Proparacaine and Tropicamide.

Assessment:
1. CMA OD, OS (Compound Myopia Astigmatism Both Eyes)
2. Peripapillary Atrophy OD, OS
3. Glaucoma Suspect OS

No retinal holes/breaks/tears were found. Is there something wrong with me? I've had a new prescription for a while now, it's only that I got my new glasses yesterday, and for a while could see better, but now it's not feeling right again. I am afraid that this rapid progression could be something really dangerous. Could the delay (around 5 months) of picking up my new glasses be the cause? Is anything abnormal with my case? I need an ophthalmologist's response on here, please if at all possible.

It sounds like AIDS to me.

Its impossible to answer this question on here. It could be any number of problems, maybe the spectacle prescription was incorrect, perhaps your eyes have changed, perhaps something has happened with the suspect glaucoma. As the first step, you need to go back to the optometrist and have your prescription and visual acuity retested as soon as possible as this is most likely to be the cause before you worry about anything else that might be happening with your eyes. Its unlikely that there is something dangerous going on with your eyes, but you need to find the cause of why your vision is not feel right.

I'm an Optometrist
