How Much are Prescription (Color) eye contacts?!

Question: How Much are Prescription (Color) eye contacts?
I was thinking about getting prescription eye contacts (dark gray) and wanted to know how much they cost (name the store) Also how long they last? I have network health insurance and am getting contacts for the first time so do i need an eye exam if I have the record for my prescription of glasses and don't necessarily want an exam. Thanks to all answers!!!

Answers:

Your contact prescription is completely different than your glasses prescription, so you'll need to see an eye doctor for a new prescription. I'd suggest you opt to get the exam for both glasses and contacts when you go, since they don't charge you extra to do both at once, but will charge you again should you decide you don't like the contacts and need new glasses. Colored contacts are about twice as expensive as regular contacts. The last time I got them without insurance, they ran about $50 per box, and a box contains six pairs. Very few people have the same prescription in both eyes, so you're looking at a minimum of two boxes. It's suggested you only wear a pair for a maximum of a month before you throw them out and use a new pair. It's impossible to give you an accurate price though, because different insurance companies cover different amounts. Be aware that your contact prescription is very specific, right down to the exact color, type, and brand. You discuss it with your doctor, and can't change color, type, or brand without getting your prescription changed by your eye doctor once you've chosen. They'll be able to give you a better price estimate.

I can't tell you how much it's going to cost you. The price is different everywhere. The prices of the contact lenses vary from brands and where you get it from. To save money, if you already know your correction power, you can always order it from online anywhere around from 20,00$-100,00$. IF you don't know the correction power of the lenses you're supposed to wear, it is very important for you to get a proper eye exam! Contact lenses can last up to years depending how well you take care of it. As long as there is no tears or damage to the contact lenses, you can always wear it. I suggest if you're going to get a eye exam, go to Wal Mart, because it's a lot of cheaper at Wal Mart.

Color contacts average online at about $20-30 but can be as high as $100 for specialty lenses. You do need a prescription for colored lenses because every lens needs to be fit properly for your eye safety.

Good luck, I hope that this helps!
