Do you know if the frames you were given were obtained legally as they have identifying numbers on them.
There have been several opticians up and down the country broken in to and surprise surprise they were after designer frames.
If they proven to be stolen they could land you in a lot of hot water.
the reason I ask is one its unusual to give away spectacle frames to any body?
Secondly you have to be measured for frames and then they need to be fitted and adjusted.
Because of that most opticians would only fit lens to frames they had supplied in the first place.
If you walk in to an option and ask the to fit lens to new frames they are going to check where they came from!

If you are in full time education then you may be entitled to NHS vouchers for glasses/contacts. How much will depend on your perscription and only your optician will be able to do that. The cost of lenses depends very much on your perscription and the type of lenses, e.g hi-index, with /without anti-glare coats. I'm not sure of the rules for vouchers once you hit 16 , it could be that you need to be on low income to get them.

go to specsavers or vision express.they do it.
