What are people asking when they say, "What's your prescription?"!
Question: What are people asking when they say, "What's your prescription?" (Glasses)?
Answers:
Many times what people really mean is "How is your vision rated?"
20/20 would be perfect vision.
However if they really want your prescription numbers. That also exists. For example, if your prescription says -1.00, you have one diopter of nearsightedness.

Its the numbers they are talkign about but you'll find its more complicated than just the numbers particularly if you haev astigmatism. Normally when you get an eye test you get given your perscription written out. i tend to carry mine with me if I'm away from home in case I break my glasses,.
They're probably wondering if you are short-sighted or long-sighted and how bad your eye-sight. Me, being a glasses person (although I rarely ever wear them), absolutely hate being asked this question...
Personal Experiance
how bad are your eyes or how strong are your glasses
so you could say really strong, i have bad eyes! or Not very strong!
people ask me all the time
They want to know what prescription your lenses are. It's a number.
