Question: I went to an Eye specialist. To do an objective eye checkup, he had put some eye drops which opened my pupils?
It has now been 2 days but my pupils won't close. The doctor said that it will be fine in a day, but it is so irritating. I am now sensitive to too much light and I can see the things that are far away or too near(4-5 cm.) very BLUR. What do I do? My next appointment is after 3 days.

Hmm...so they dilated your eyes? How long the dilation lasts is based on what they use and your individual eyes. Typically a combination of Tropicamide 1% and Phenylephrine 2.5 % will last 4-6 hours on most people. Homatropine lasts three days and Atropine lasts a week.

Rule of thumb: Light colored eyes (such as blue or grey) tend to dilate faster and stay dilated longer than dark colored eyes.

Wear sunglasses and contact your ophthalmologist's office. Let them know its lasted two days, and see what they want to do, because typically they don't use the dilating drops that last that long.
