Whats a true black Iris in a eye?!

Question: Whats a true black Iris in a eye?
This might be a bit off category, but closest I could find.
I see seem to come across a variety of dark colored eyes listed as black irises. I know for a fact that this doesn't mean the iris is 100% pure black. But what eye color really started the category of black iris? These are a few possibilities i'm not sure of:

Dark Brown (where you can barely see the pupil)
Darkest Blue (That appears charcoal with streaks of black)
Darkest Green (That appears with streaks of black)

Or, could it just be that any iris that has a near black appearance, in any color, is categorized so?

I'm just confused by the category of black, as most all eyes I know of have some kind of color in them.

Answers:

It's the very dark brown iris that people call black.
Black is amongst the rarest eye colors in the world. Most of the people who appear to have black eyes have, infact, extremely dark brown eyes that seem to be black.

Even the pupil only looks black...
"The retina of a human eye is red because it has lots of blood vessels. One reason you don't see the red colour is because the retina absorbs nearly all of the light which enters the pupil. In normal circumstances very little light is reflected and so the pupil looks dark. When a very strong light is shone on the pupil, some of the light is reflected back and the pupil looks red (so you sometimes get red-eye in photographs)."

Sometimes the color of someone's iris (as well as other colored objects) changes depending on the kind of lighting (sunlight, incandescent, flourescent, etc). Some people's iris color changes if they are angry and certain other times (maybe related to do with blood pressure or flow into the iris).

I have those really dark brown irises where you can't even tell the pupil from the iris except if you are quite close and in very bright lighting.
