What do I do for dry eyes with contacts?!

Question: What do I do for dry eyes with contacts?
I just started using contacts last week and noticed yesterday I was having serious dry eye. I can wear the contacts for about 6-7 hours before they bother me. The rewetting drops were only helping for 30 min or so at a time. I have read a bunch of different things to try from websites but I don't know anyone who has contacts to ask their opinion and what they do. I go back to the eye doctor on Wednesday and I'm just looking for some advice until then. My eyelids have been getting really warm. They aren't itchy though. I'm thinking its just from putting in the drops and wiping away the extra. They aren't red or swollen so I'm not to worried. Any ideas, advice?

Answers:

Are you wearing a lot in front of computer screens? If so that may be the problem. Computer screens tend to dry the eyes anyway and really aren't good fro contact wearing time. how long are you spending on the screens with contacts? Make sure you drink enough water. If you dehydrate then your eyes get dry. Some types of material are better than others for keeping your eyes wet. As you've jus tgot them your eye doctor may need to change the type you are using. they dont' always get it right first time.

Hot compresses aer quite good for teh eyes as well if they are really dry. Dry eye is a particular enemy if you have astigmatism as teh contact tends to stop sitting correctly and then you don't get quite teh quality of eyesight. Givign your eyes some fresh air may help. Contacts are a bit liek dogs and tend to develop less problems if you take them outside in the fresh air for a walk occasionally.

Take your contacts out and put some eye drops in .
