Understanding my eyeglass rx?!

Question: Understanding my eyeglass rx?
It reads-
OD: (sphere) -2.7- (Cyl) -03- (Axis) 72
OS: (sphere) -2.7- (Cyl) -03- (Axis) 105

I'm a nurse so I understand what everything means. But I'm trying to order my glasses online and there is no option -03- for cyl... Should I just put in the closest option- and if so should i round up or down?

This prescription seems wierd, normally the strength of both the sphere and cylinder are given in 0.25 increments and the axis being from 1 to 180, such as: sph - 2.75 cyl -0.50, axis 72. (Don't use this to order glasses, it is just an example!!), You need to call or visit the place where you got the prescription and double check what the actual numbers are (and any +/- signs) or you will almost certainly wind up with the wrong power glasses.

Your Rx probably has nothing odd about it. It's most likely just another way of writing the following:

OD: -2.75 -3.00 x72
OS: -2.75 -3.00 x105

The reason there's no 5 is because 2.7 (or in an ADD power simply 27) is a shorter way of writing out the Rx for 2.75 and the reason there's no point before or after the cyl is because it's a simple 3.00 written shortly.

Might still be best to confirm this with your doctor, though.

Yep, I agree with Flying Dragon , a lot of those numbers can't be correct the way you have them there.

You better check with the prescriber first to clear that up before trying to order anything.
