Honey has been used to treat eye trauma or pink eye. It is an anti bacterial. It is usually used in a diluted form with water. As long is it is pure and not contaminated it won't hurt your eye.

Unfortunately, it won't lighten your iris. The reason people think it might is that honey, when diluted with water, produces hydrogen peroxide. This is the reason for its anti bacterial effect, but as a bleach, it won't lighten your iris color because it isn't absorbed that far into the eye to any affect on the pigment.

Eye color usually lightens as we get older, but this is because the pigment in the iris changes, not due to sun or bleaching.
