Prescription lenses in sunglasses?!

Question: Prescription lenses in sunglasses?
Hey guys thanks for reading---
Ok I want to get a pair of Gascan Oakleys but I would need to get prescription lenses in them. I looked on the Oakley 'prescription' section, but I couldn't find an area where you tell them what type of lenses you need. How much does it cost to get quality prescription lenses in the sunglasses either through the Oakley company or with a local glasses shop? Can you even do that?

Thanks a lot everyone, any input is appreciated =)

You've got 2 options.
1. Oakley have their own prescription (Rx) lab, and make Rx sunglasses from scratch (up to certain powers). They are a little expensive, but they will look beautiful, and you will have the full Oakley Guarantee. Gascans, you should be able to get any lens you like, including their top of the line Polarised IRIDIUM with Metalic Mirrors... You can do this at any Optical Dispenser shops that sells Oakley.

2. Buy the Oakley Gascans from any optical shop. Take them to an Optical Dispenser and ask them to knock out the Plain Sun lenses, and put in Tinted Rx lenses. With this, you can also get a whole miriad of lenses, including Polarised, Multicoated, Mirrors (it can get expensive)... or plain simple tinted lenses. The down side to this option is that your OAKLEY warantee will be VOID.

As UV stated, you have 2 options.

However, note that the Oakley RX requires that you CALL and cannot be done on the website. You will need to fax them a copy of your RX from your Eye Doctor. Also, note that each frame is limited in what power you can put in. In other words, one Rx strength that works for the Gascan, may not work for the another frame, like the Crosshair. Based on presonal exp, You'll looking around $200 for an iridium coated RX lens. If your RX is too strong, you won't be able to have it done.

While going to an optician and getting a generic lens put in is an option, besides the warranty issue, you'll also be putting an inferior lens into the frames.

Oakley has been proven time and time again to be the best COMBINATION of strength and clarity on the market. There's a reason why so many athletes, law enforcement, first responders, and the US military choose Oakley eyewear over others. If you can, stick with Oakley lenses (Oakley RX dealer listing available at Oakley.com's store finder page).

I don't know much about your question, but i think you could buy the sun glasses and then take them to your local eye doctor. But I would go to your eye doctor before hand and ask him or her about your situation.
