Can expired eye make up cause blepharitis?!

Question: Can expired eye make up cause blepharitis?
I accidentally used expired make up about two months ago and woke up the next morning with dry, red, itchy eyes that were very sensitive to light. I had to use a lot of lubricating eye drops til I found an optometrist who diagnosed me with mixed blepharitis (that is staphylococcal AND meibomitis). I was a contact lens wearer up until that day and I have no idea when I'll be able to wear contacts again as I would like to one day. But that being said, could this make up have been the cause of it?

Also...I used that eye shadow along with new eyeliner that I never used before. I wonder if, it wasn't the shadow, could it have been the new liner?

Answers:

It 'might' have been an allergic reaction to the new eyeliner, but if the doctor said blepharitis from staph, then it prob was just that. I know a lot about this since I get it from time to time. The lids get red and inflamed to try to fight off the bacteria, and the best thing to do is 'keep the eye clean'! It will go away very soon if you do.
Put warm compresses on your eyes for a few minutes in the morn and night. When you shower, put some suds (that kills all bact) on your closed eyes for a minute before rinsing.
It'll work wonders, believe me.
