Why is there salt around the rim of my contacts case?!

Question: Why is there salt around the rim of my contacts case?
i cleaned it recently, but i found salt on it last night. it's a little bigger than normal table salt too. the solution i use doesn't have salt in it and this has never happened in the 6 years i've worn had contacts.

if it's saline solution (most contact solutions are), it has salt. saline IS salt. so when it dries out, the water evaporates but the saline/salt stays behind.

I have hard lenses and use a conditioning (non-saline) solution, when it dries up it leaves a flaky substance.

you probably just didn't rinse the case out enough after you put your lenses in.

The water evaporated away from the salt solution (contact solution) leaving just the salt.

Chemistry class lol
