Blurred vision in my left eye?!

Question: Blurred vision in my left eye?
I've noticed that within the last several days (a little less than a week, maybe?) my left eye has been kind of blurry. I wear contacts, and whether I'm wearing contacts or glasses, it's blurry. Usually, both of my eyes are just fine when reading up close (I'm nearsighted), but my eye is even blurry then. Things seem to double a little (mostly text), but I think that could maybe be my mild astigmatism? For most of the days I've noticed this, my eyes felt like they were dry or had something in them, but it seemed to temporarily subside when I used eye drops. Now, they don't hurt at all. Also, the skin below my left eye (my upper cheek) and the area below my right eyebrow have been pretty tender and kind of red for the last couple of weeks. Could this be related? What could be causing this relatively sudden blurriness?

Hi Angela, please call your eye doctor and make an appointment. Your vision is your portal to the world and something that demands your immediate attention.

The tenderness, blurred and double vision are typical of a condition called optic neuritis which sometimes is idiopathic and sometimes is an indication of a neurological condition. It usually occurs in just one eye.

Please call your eye doctor and go in and have him or her look at your optic nerve.

I have had optic neuritis.

It's possible that you have protein deposits on your lenses, which is why the problem seemed to go away and return again later.

You should be taking your lenses out every night, cleaning them with fresh solution, and storing them properly in a clean case that is replaced every month. You should not be extending the wear of your contacts (if they are a 2 week lens, don't stretch them to a month).

If you are doing all of the above, and you still have a problem, then you need to see an optometrist because it's possible that there is something else going on.

take the lens out and hold it up to the light...if it's a little cloudy then you probably have a little infection
I often get that...keep the lens clean and always wash your hands before inserting or removing them.
