I have a discoloration in my iris?!

Are you sure that this spot was not there before 2 years ago? Is it possible that you just never noticed it until then? (You can try to look in old photographs to see if this is the case, if the photo was taken close enough.) Believe it or not, things like that happen all the time. You don't notice things about yourself until other people point them out or you randomly actually notice them one day.

Actually, when you look at the iris through a microscope like an eye doctor (optometrist) does, the iris is actually made up of tons of different colors that all blend together to give you your "total" eye color. For example, I have blue eyes but I also have spots of green and brown and grey in them that create the blue color (when you look at them with a microscope). So it is very common to have "spots" that are a slightly different shade than the rest of the iris or different from the other eye. The pigment is that unique!

If this spot truly just "appeared" 2 years ago all of a sudden, I still wouldn't worry about it too much. If you are concerned, just mention it to your eye doctor the next time you have an eye exam but chances are it is just a normal variation of the pigments of color in the iris.
