Multifocal contacts are a possibility or using reading glasses over contacts.
Surgery is not a treatment option for accommodative esotropia. Your farsightedness might be correctable with LASIK but LASIK will not change your need for reading glasses. LASIK is a substitute for non multifocal glasses or contacts; if reading is difficult with your contacts it will just as difficult after LASIK.
Eye muscle surgery is not appropriate in accomodative esotropia. LASIK will not correct +5.5 and it for sure will not take care of the need for bifocals. If you have very much astigmatism, your options are pretty limited in bifocal contacts. Your condition is much less common than being nearsighted. That is perhaps why there are fewer options for you. However there are some challenges from a technology standpoint. It is easier to make a cornea flatter (what nearsighted people need) than it is to make it steeper (what you need). It is also very difficult to incorporate two powers into a contact. I would probably wear contacts for distance plus reading glasses when I needed to read.
optometrist
They should be able to, just visit your local optometrist.
Maybe more plus would help. Try that before surgery.
