Are my problems with contacts normal?!

Question: Are my problems with contacts normal?
I just got contacts 2 days ago and It take me like 20 minutes to put them in and out and do most people start off like this? I've actually gotten to the point where i tape my lower eye lid down to prevent the blinking reflex because the eyelids slip when i use my finger. And also I want to say when I was using them my eyes at one point got really irritated and I was squinting and tears were streaming out then it went away is this normal also(They were already in at that point)?

it does take most people about a month to get really proficient at taking contacts in and out. Its one of those things that takes practice, but one day you'll just find comes absolutely naturally.

You shouldn't however tape your lower eyelid down. You ought to be able to hold your eyelids properly using your fingers. After washing your hands make sure your hands are properly dry or they will slip. I put mine is as follows for right eye. With the right hand out the lens onto the 2nd finger from the thumb of the right hand. Then use the finger next to the thumb of the right hand to hold down the lower lid of the right eye. Use the 2nd finger from the thub of the left hand to hold open the upper eyelid. The trick with getting them in is not to let the lens slip from the centre of the finger and keep a firm hold on the eyelids. I do this by putting my face down to my hand and only bringing the finger up a bit. If you bring it up vertical the lens is more liekly to slip and if it slips or flattens it doesnt' go onto your eye properly. Instructins on taking otu I've put in detail lots of times. Basicall I find it pays to look towards your nose whilst pulling the lens to the outer corner of the eye before pinching it off as then you are taking it off the part of the eye where it sits comfortably. I've put in detailed instructions in other answers.

If your eyes suddenly got irritated then its likely that you got something behind your lens ( e.g. an eyelash ) and your tears washed it out after which it was better. It does happen although more often when you put the lenses in and then you have to take them out and swill the object off with solution.

Its worth carrying on with them - it wil become easy in the end adn contacts are so good.

Worn contacts fro 40 years.
