I have bad vision in my right eye?!

Question: I have bad vision in my right eye?
I have really bad vision in my right eye. For example, i couldn't see most of the letters when i got my eyes tested at the doctors office. If i put my hand over (or close) my left eye, I can't read anything that is a foot or a foot and a half away from my eyes. If something is in BIG BOLD LETTERS, i still can't see it! My eyes are always blurry, sometimes ( only sometimes, not alot) even my other (left) eye is blurry, but my right one is still more blurry. Can the eye doctor give me glasses or contacts for JUST ONE EYE? I can't really see anything out of it, its toooo blurry. If i go to the doctor, will he poke or prod at my eyeball? Im a worry wart, so i need some help. Do you think he might say I will need glasses?? What will he do to my eye? Will he touch it. I'm worried.

I'm only 13, i've never been to the eye doctor. I'm kinda worried :(

It is sounding like you might need glasses. They don't poke at your eye. The closest thing to that is what I call the puff-o-meter; it sends a puff of air onto your eye to check for glaucoma (slightly annoying but nothing touches your eye). They usually put some drops in your eyes and will look into your eye with a special light and ask you to look in different directions, to make sure there is no disease or other problems. Most of the test is having them try various lens combinations and being asked if you can read a certain line of letters or answering questions like "is this better, or this". Be sure to answer correctly, this is how they find out the proper prescription for you; don't be afraid to ask them to repeat it, if necesary, so you can be sure (particularly near the end of the test the differences between the choices will be slight). If it turns out that only one eye needs correction, you got 3 choices. They can just put a plain (no power) lens in the other part of the glasses (they would look wierd with just one lens). If you get contacts, you could just wear one in the "bad" eye (unless you get the color-changing ones). Or you could get a monocle.

YES they can Rx glasses or contacts for only 1 eye. no problem. really common.

no they're not going to "poke or prod" your eye. rest easy...its no biggie!
