Question: Is TobraDex (tobramycin & dexamethasone) effective after expiration date?

Disclaimer: I don't want to hear your opinion about how drugs shouldn't be used after expiration date. If you proclaim something like this with certainty, you know very little about how expiration dates are calculated. In my case, the tube wasn't opened and was always stored under 22C (27C is the limit on the tube). I would like to hear from some one, who knows whether the constituents would or would not degrade chemically.

You obviously know that there is nothing magic about the expiration date. I guess one question would be: "How long ago did it expire?" If the expiration date is 10/99, don't use it. There is nothing unique about Tobradex that gives it a very specific expiration. I guess another issue is how serious your condition is. If you have a little rash on your lid, I would probably use it even if it is expired. If you have a corneal ulcer, I would get a new tube. I realize this stuff is crazy expensive and I understand your desire not to buy more if you don't have to.
