Pink eye is one of the most contagious infections. It is normal for the other eye to get infected as well as anyone else that might be living in the same house. Use the antibiotic eye drops that were given to you and make sure you use them consistently everyday and finish the course that was prescribed by your eye doctor. If you stop using the drops prematurely the infection will return and you will have to start from scratch again. The usual length of this infection is about a week. And now that the other eye is infected you can start counting the days from day one again. Sorry. And as previously advised wash you hands often. And throw away the eye drop bottle as soon as your doctor has released you from the antibiotic treatment.

remember if you touch your eye to wash your hands. if you touch your eye, use the meds, then touch it again, then the germ will return. my pink eye lasted for about a week. also remember to wash your pillow cases
