How to prevent my eyesight from getting worse?!

Question: How to prevent my eyesight from getting worse?
I'm currently a teenager, and I wear glasses. I've been wearing them for about 5 years and a half now. Anyway, I realized that my eyesight worsens really quickly. I go to the eye doctor almost every 6 months to change the lenses in my glasses because my eyesight gets worse so quickly. None of my friends' eyesight changes so quickly. :/

So I was wondering, is there a way to prevent my eyesight from changing so fast, or is there any reason why it changes so fast?

I use the computer A LOT, so I think that may be a huge reason... but besides using the computer less, what else can I do to prevent my eyesight from getting worse so fast? Is it normal that it changes so fast? :/

Answers:

What is happening to you is normal for a teenager. This sort of eyesight problem is about your eyeball being the wrong shape and as you grow that can worsen. ( It can get better but more often it worsens). I know that is quite depressing as I went through the change every 6 months thing as well. Normally eyesight stabilizes in your 20's which must seem a long way away to you.

there isn't anything you can do to change it. There is no evidence that using the computer influences this. If it did then all computer professionals would have eyesight issues and having worked in computing for over 30 years I can tell you this isnt' the case. You can get eyestrain using teh computer but that doesn't worsen your vision. You do tend to notice any eyesight problems when on the screens as you need quite good eyesight to operate them particularly if you play games.

You dont say what your perscription is , but these days contacts correct even very high perscriptions and are really good. You may also have the option of surgery in your 20's. Don't worry that you will go blind as some teenagers do. this is not the case. Even very high perscriptions are correctable by glasses/contacts.
