Can I be covered under two insurances?!


Question: Can I be covered under two insurances?
Im 24. I have vision health dental 401k etc coverage through my work that i pay into and i am also covered under my dads insurance until i am 26.
i have really bad eyes and want to get my contacts and lenses/frams replaced. My dad said hed pay for one or the other.
My question is can I use his insurance coverage for one and mine for the other?

I see no reason why not.



First you need to know if both insurances are accepted by the doctor. You can use both if they are accepted, but they will ask you which is your primary insurance. BTW, insurance companies always ask if you have more than one insurance carrier. The doctor's office will submit a claim to the first carrier and when they pay they will submit a claim to the second carrier informing them of the amount that the first one covered. If you have eyeglass coverage with one insurer and not the other then you can use that one alone. The doctor's office can explain how they will submit to claim for you also.
